Welcome To Value Pricing
No Hourly Rates
I’m not a fan of hourly billing. Not only is it a hassle to keep track of hours worked, with hourly billing the focus is on time tracking instead of delivering value. If I want to buy a new TV, I don’t care how many hours it took to assemble, I want to know if it’s the right size, has the picture quality I’m looking for, and how many HDMI inputs there are.
If I trade my time for your money, the focus is on how much time I work, not on the result you need.
Value Pricing
With value pricing, the focus is on your desired results. We discuss what you need, how quickly you need it, and then agree on the value of delivering those results in that timeframe. We trade money for value. This does some wonderful things.
First, it forces you to think about the value of what you are investing in. If there’s no value, there’s no reason to do it.
Second, it motivates me to be as efficient as possible in delivering a solution. Nobody needs to track time cards.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
I offer free consultation calls specifically for this purpose. Let’s jump on a call and I’ll ask you some questions designed to figure out exactly what problem you’re trying to solve so we can define the right solution.
-
While I don’t offer hourly billing, I do offer flat rates for “consulting by the day.” In this case, we trade expertise for money. I will ask you questions about your pain points and provide an experienced assessment designed to help you determine the right problem to solve. You can use my feedback to develop a plan you execute or I can work with you to define specific deliverables that we then value price together.
-
We’ll define clear exit criteria for each project so we both know what done looks like. If you still need access to my expertise beyond the project, we can discuss an advisory retainer. For a flat monthly fee, you reserve my expertise and I am available if and when you need me.
